  1. Burns

    I burned by right foot when I accidentally tripped into a campfire with bare feet. By that night I had massive blisters about the size of ½ lemons all over my foot and could not step on it.

    My wife set up turquoise light to shine on my foot all night long and I stuck my foot out of the covers, under the light, for over a week. The blisters went down in size every day. Within a week the blisters had dried up and pealed off leaving fresh new skin underneath. I never had any scarring.

    Does any have any experience with Spectro Chrome Therapy on depression and / or Paranoia?

    I have just received the book Let There Be Light and a set of colour filters however from what I can see there is no mention in the book about psychological disorders. Any experience would be much appreciated.

    According to Darius Dinshah, color schedule #323 in “Let There Be Light” has suggestions. The subject is complex and may not have a simple answer but it is worth trying as suggested.

    I find the when in doubt, just using green on the whole body can have amazing results. It makes me feel so much brighter, happier, calmer and more energized at the same time. That may be because when there are imbalances in the body, the emotions and state of mind are affected. Green tends to balance things out, and that’s why I feel so much better.

  5. I have a question about the Spectrochrome Glass Filters. It claims that it would only take 20 minutes (instead of one hour) to tonate for each color. Is that valid? Thank you for your answer in advance. Jenren

    If you are talking about the glass filters on this website: http://www.spectrochrome.net I could not tell you as I have not tried them and know little about them. These glass filters are not made by, nor endorsed by the Dinshah Health Society. Some people that have tried them, have reported disappointing results. I’m sure other find them valuable, but because these filters are not endorsed by the Dinshah Health Society, I can not recommend them.
    The roscolene filters work very well, are time-tested, and are far less expensive.

    I asked the Dinshah Health Society to respond to your questions, since they are very specific. Here are their answers:

    Color-charged water – Once it is charged, how long can it stay charged? Can I store it for later use? How much water to drink each time? 8 oz or more?

    A. Since this does not cause a chemical change in the water which can be tested, we feel it should be charged and consumed promptly. There must be a degrading of its energy at some rate though at a rather slow pace.

    Q. How much water to drink each time? 8 oz or more?

    A. Dr Babbitt used a few ounces at a time, but it is not like a drug which increases the effect according to the dosage – 4 to 8 ounces would probably give all that can be expected.

    Q. Tonation time – is it okay to tonate more than one hour? Sometimes I would drift into sleep and wake up more than one hour later.

    A. One hour at a Forecast time is the norm though there have been instance of hypersensitivity where a shortened time was preferred,. Around-the-clock tonations have been used to control the itching from poison ivy. Tonating while asleep is acceptable.

  9. Does one suppose to tonate only twice a day (one in the day and one at night)? But a lot of symptoms require tonating with more than two colors. How would that work?
    For example, #296 Abscess (p. 87, Let there be light) has 7 color filters listed. What’s the best way to handle that? Thanks again!

  10. Jenren,

    Tonate with only one color at a time. So if you tonate with green in the morning, you can use Indigo in the afternoon or evening. Make sure that at least 4 hours go by between tonations.

    Generally, the way to handle the different colors listed is to start with the first one. In most cases, that is green, because green is the balancing color and the best place to start (however, if you have a fever, you could start with blue or turquoise.)

    So if we are looking at the tonation schedule for abscesses, start with the Green systemic front for your first tonation.

    For the next tonation, later that evening or the next day, use Indigo on the affected area.

    The next suggestion is orange, but only if the abscess is in an area where it can break through the skin. If not, you can skip orange.

    Magenta is suggested only if fever is high. If there is no fever, you can skip magenta.

    Blue is also suggested if fever is high. Again, if there is no fever, there is no need to use blue.

    So, if there WAS fever, you would have used magenta on the abscess, followed by blue systemic front. If not, you would have skipped to turquoise systemic and the affected area.

    After a few tonations of turquoise (continue with the same color as long as you feel you are getting results), you can try indigo on the affected area – or you can alternate between turquoise systemic and indigo on the area.

    I hope that gives you an idea of how you can use the color schedules.

    Part of figuring out what to do is experimenting, part intuition and a lot is observing what happens when you use a certain color. If one color doesn’t seem to do anything for you, try another. Occasionally, a color may see too strong. In that case, either cut the time of the tonation down, or use a closely related color for a few tonations, then try the strong color again and see if your body does better with it.

  11. Cataract – How effective is Spectro-chrome color therapy to reverse or at least slow down the incipient cataract? Has anyone tried with good result? Thanks again!

    We have had reports of successful use. Due to so many variables such as age, heredity, stress, diet, and other living habits , it cannot be foretold at what level change may occur. We feel it is certainly worth trying.

  14. One of the things to keep in mind is that color therapy encourages your body to heal. Tonating more than twice a day may stimulate healing faster than you expect and could make you very uncomfortable or put you into a healing crisis.

    Very often, you’ll get a “cleansing effect” which is really your body throwing off toxins (diarrhea, headache, runny nose, possibly fever, etc). If your body is throwing off too many toxins at once, it can be overwhelming. That’s why only two tonations a day are recommended. One is usually enough.

    Personally, I wouldn’t tonate more than twice a day unless I was badly burned or had a high fever – or maybe if I was doing just 15 minutes each tonation (that would only be if the light felt so strong that I couldn’t tolerate it any longer). For normal things, and especially chronic conditions, I would give my body time to adjust. Remember it took a long time for my body to get into that condition, and the body will need time to reverse it.

    There is no set amount of time between tonations, but I feel that at least 4 hours is needed, and 6 hours are better.

  15. “Let there be light” – I have the sixth edition. Do I need to order the latest edition (11th) in order to get many important revisions?
    Tonation distance – What is the ideal distance for tonation? 3 feet? Would 5 feet be okay? Thank you!

    • The book is currently on its 13th edition. The color attributes and index of color schedules color tonations have not changed, so any edition is good. However, a few new conditions have been added.

      I have the second edition and it’s still great. The new editions do have a few more tonation schedules for more conditions, but they are otherwise the same, so you’re probably fine with the sixth.

      A good distance for tonations is about 3 feet. Five feet is OK for whole body tonations if you are using a 40 watt bulb, but I think 8 or 10 feet could be too far. If you are tonating a smaller area with a small light, like a tooth in your mouth with a flashlight, getting much closer (an inch or two) is just fine (and necessary).

  16. Hi All,

    I am looking for an alternative treatment for my sister who has dark brown birthmark. Birthmark is on foot covering 6 x 8 area. She has tried laser treatments, creams, bleaching but nothing worked. She seems to be very depressed about her situation because of this birthmark. It seems she is unable to live her live and pursue her career goals because of lower self-esteem.

    I was doing some research in alternative therapy to treat birthmark and by accident came across color therapy using Dinshah’s Spectro-Chrome. Does anyone have any idea which color to use on Birthmark area? Any help about color suggestion is highly appreciated, Thank you for your time.

    • A bulb with color temperature is a bulb that has been altered to produce a certain spectrum of the light in higher or lower degrees. This is not advisable for Dinshah Color Therapy.

      The lumen is a measure of the total “amount” of visible light emitted by a source. It does not refer to the power (wattage), only to the eye’s perception of the wavelengths of light.

      According to Wikipedia:

      On September 1, 2010, European Union legislation came into force mandating that lighting equipment must be labelled primarily in terms of lumens, instead of watts of electric power consumed.[7] This change is a result of the EU’s Eco-design Directive for Energy-using Products (EuP).[8] For example, according to the European Union standard, an energy-efficient bulb that claims to be the equivalent of a 60 W tungsten bulb must have a minimum light output of 700–750 lumens.

      The best thing for Dinshah Color Therapy is an old-fashioned, incandescent, clear lightbulb that is 40 watts or less.

    • Correct, with a caveat…

      Actually, the best thing for Dinshah Color Therapy is sunlight. Only natural sunlight gives you the full light spectrum in the perfect amounts.

      After that, a standard, old-fashioned, incandescent, clear lightbulb that is 25 to 40 watts comes closest. Any more than 40 watts is unnecessary and can melt or warp the color filters.

      Typical fluorescent bulbs have large energy peaks in the yellow, green and violet areas. Full-spectrum fluorescent lights (Ott-Lite) also have many large energy peaks and other areas that are weak. Many of the newer “hi-tech” fluorescents have similar characteristics.

      Even “full-spectrum” neodymium incandescent bulbs (Chromalux, Bulbrite, Enrich, etc) are not full spectrum at all. They have a virtual absence of yellow frequencies.

      The spectra of halogen bulbs is also similar to the sun’s, however, it is weighted more towards the red end. Halogen bulbs are also hotter than incandescent lights, so if you use them, move the filter further away from the bulb.

      The tonation schedule in the “Let There be Light” book says start with Lemon and Magenta systemic front from the feet up (first lemon and then magenta – you may need to alternate that for a while).
      Then tonate with Scarlet on the kidney area in the back. If its too intense at first, start with 15-30 minutes and work up slowly.

      The book recommends a very careful diet, which usually means more fruits and vegetables, no refined sugar, low fat, no alcohol,and avoid common triggers like eggs, dairy, gluten, corn and grains.

      Here’s the tonation schedule from the “Let There be Light” book:
      1) If due to sphincter weakness
      a. Lemon systemic front
      b. Orange and Green on front
      c. Kegel’s exercise may help

      2) If due to nerve injury, add:
      d. Motor nervous system schedule systemic to include affected nerve areas.
      – Alternate Lemon and Yellow for 2 weeks, then…
      – Lemon and Orange for 4 weeks.
      – Repeat this schedule until desired results are attained. Nerve repair is a slow process, please be patient.
      (For men: If due to benign prostate enlargement, follow schedule 142)
      In all cases, follow the recommendations in Chapter 5, part one:
      – Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and get enough Vit. C and D
      – Eliminate meat, poultry, fish, eggs
      – Use only whole-grains and brown rice.
      – Minimize salt, refined sugar and spices
      – Avoid artificial colors and flavors and those that contain chemical preservatives. Don’t use a microwave
      – Avoid coffee, caffeinated tea, colas, and alcoholic beverages
      – Eat fresh foods vs frozen or canned. Eat mostly raw fruits and vegetables.
      – Drink purified water
      – Don’t smoke or use recreational drugs
      – Normal blood circulation is needed for effective tonations, so do not take a shower or bath 30 minutes before or after a tonation.

      Please read the rest of the suggestions in the book.

      I suppose so as long as the plastic protectors are clear (colorless), but the color gels are plastic already so its easy to keep them clean.

      However… I’m pretty sure the plastic protector would probably melt from the heat of the light bulb. The light is in close proximity to the filter and it gets quite hot.

  21. So I just bought a bunch of roscolux filters at the recommendation of a book called Color Medicine by Charles klotsche who based his light work off studying Dinshah light therapy. I guess the roscolux line is great resistant. I’m not seeing anything that shows a correlation between the roscolux line as the roscolene line and I’m really hoping these can be used. Any idea about this?
    Also, approximately how long does it take from mailing a check to join the society (to get the book and other learning materials etc.) to when I can expect to get those in?

  22. How best to mesh chronic treatment with acute?

    We started gently with Green and Lemon system front for Crohns.

    But, poison ivy is the acute problem of the moment. I could not find it listed in the LTBL, but have seen suggestions for local Violet tonation. We are still learning, but thought that Violet is powerful and might disturb the chronic Crohns regimen already in progress.

    How do folks deal with such simultaneous situations for a person whose constitution is ‘delicate’?

    • When there is fever it is considered acute. That includes the localized fever/heat of a rash.

      Try #331 for Crohns.

      Use Blue for the poison ivy. To control itching, a prolonged tonation may help.

      For strong reactions and/or high sensitivity, or if a tonation appears to be more than the person feels is comfortable, see Chapter four, paragraph G of the “Let There be Light” book.

  24. Hi, I will like to share my experience with lung cancer. I started tonate myself since the first symptoms, two times a day basically green and indigo, also orange, and violet to rest after some days, and continue like this 9 or ten months. I changed of course my diet, change lifestyle, did complementary therapies also and now I am in complete remission, there is no evidence of the disease. I continue doing the color therapy with more space between tonations.
    I had a total confidence in color theraphy and had very good results in different conditions with patients.

  25. I was amazed at the effectiveness of my first tonation. I have multiple issues that need to be addressed, each requiring a different color therapy. How is this handled? Would I tonate for an hour on each targeted area, which puts me over the two hours a day recommendation of therapy? Alternate? I have two very serious issues – one involving my ear, the other my kidney.

    And do you offer any advanced opportunities beyond the information provided in your book?

  26. I read the book let there be light and I don’t really understand the concept of forecast times. Where can I find a schedule of the forecast times? I live near the equator- will the forecast times be different?

    • Yes, forecast times are different in different parts of the world. The simplest way to understand the concept is that these are the best times that your body can receive the light for healing. There are also certain times when its best not to tonate and those times are on the schedule.

      You can get a schedule of the forecast times by becoming a member of the Dinshah Health Society. It’s only $3 a year and it helps support their work. Its easier to get more than one year at a time.

  27. 1/13/2019 Any suggestions what colors woukd disrupt the EMFs and wifi, microwaves ramping up? Lighting suggestions?

    • You need high frequency to filter the EMF. Stones like Toumaline and obsidian laid against your body will work. There is also a pendant called AamoraA that is impregnated with nanoCrystals that is extremely effective. Where over your thyroid and don’t take it off. Light is high frequency in relative terms. But you can’t wear it all the time LOL. The filtering must be constant.

    • Diane, are you asking which colors would help make your body stronger, to withstand, or which would help recover from, EMF exposure?

      Unfortunately we live this every day for the last two years as my sweetie has become extremely electrically sensitive. The spectrochrome had been helpful for recovery from exposure but we have not hit upon any magic sequence. She has found nothing protects against exposure except avoidance and shielding. We run no wifi or cell in the house and the circuit breakers are turned off all day in her sanctuary and sleeping area. If she goes outside, she wears shielded clothing.

      If you truly are EMF-prudent or EMF-sensitive, consider interacting with a Building Biologist for expert guidance.

    I am trying to figure out how to tonate for cataracts. In the Let There Be Light book, I look at (pg. 45) for cataract schedule #14 (pg. 52) lemon ||22|| systemic front, it doesn’t specify the area. Do I tonate the eyes only (open or closed?) or the whole face?

    • Systemic front means your entire front area, including the head and eyes (and legs and feet if you can get them in). You generally tonate with the eyes open. The rest of the schedule is the sensory nervous schedule on #1 – that means on the face (eyes open). Then magenta on #4 and #5, which is the chest area. When an area is specified as #1, 4, and 5, then its best to cover the other areas.

      Interestingly, the tonation schedule does not specify tonating on only the eyes. The sensory nervous schedule uses:
      lemon and yellow (alternatively) for two weeks
      Lemon and orange for four weeks
      lemon and red for six weeks
      Magenta on the face, throat, chest areas

  30. Thank you, colorlight, for any responses. I own and have read the book LTBL. I still have several questions.
    1) you say above to have a clear lightbulb. I am using the recommended clamp light (shop light) and built my cardboard box filter holder to fit it. But locally, I am only able to find 60-watt frosted incandescent bulbs. When I look online the only clear 40-watt I can find are “appliance bulbs,” which are smaller than the typical, standard size bulb one would use in a table lamp. Are appliance-sized bulbs OK in a shop lamp? I’m not even sure the bulb base will fit the socket. Or are frosted white bulbs just as good as clear so I can stick with what I have? I don’t want to waste time and effort with an ineffective bulb.
    2) I thought I read time restrictions on bathing/showering near tonation times but now can’t find that information in the book – can you repeat please? How long to delay bathing before/after tonation?
    3) To tonate SB it says to lie on your side, but then the back of one arm (#14) doesn’t get light because I am laying on it. Is this OK?
    4) Darkening the room: The book says something like “as much as reasonable.” I close curtains and it dims daylight but doesn’t eliminate it. Must I buy blackout curtains – this would be a real hardship so I’d rather not, if the therapy will work just as well anyway.

    • June, we have used many different wattages. Here we primarily use systemic treatment because my sweetie is electrically sensitive. I created a little battery powered tonation from an old incandescent camping lantern probably less than one watt bulb. Works fine.

      We moved onto infusing water in glass jars, using a 25 watt bulb in an electric lamp far away from my sweetie. It takes approximately one full hour in this method.

      Recently, we have evolved the same technique to ‘charge’ a biogeometric pendant on its ‘clearing tray’. This only takes two minutes per side and I am using a four watt night light incandescent bulb. The BG pendant acts to provide a systemic effect, though the effects can be dramatic yet last only fifteen minutes or so. Even though the book suggests limit of two tonations per day, using this method, we might do this six times a day. Sweetie has a strong intuition of what her body needs including which colors.

      The advantage of the systemic via water is that this can be taken in full light and without exposing skin (brrr in winter). We have found that the tonated water loses its potency in about sixty seconds so it needs to be consumed briskly.

    • Jody, the standard sized appliance bulbs fit shop lights, but the smaller ones don’t. The ones for clothes dryers still come in 40 watts.

    • As with any recurring problem, the cause should be found. Here are colors that have been used: Green systemic and Blue on #10-11.

      [Sidenote: Candida often goes along with hidden Strep infection in the same area, which are far worse than the candida.]

    I have heard that LED lights are safe to use but would you have any information on if they are safe or not? Thank you.

    • Kris, LEDs are non optimal and for some people the flicker is injurious. Most, likely all, LEDs do not have a full spectrum of frequencies, so the roscolene filters might not pass the healing frequencies. If your state makes it hard to get incandescents, consider using an appliance bulb like that used for refrigerator or a chandelier, best if it is clear glass.

    • The Dinshah Health Society has suggested Schedule #76, the tonation schedule for pneumonia for covering the most likely symptoms. Chapter six has suggestions for any other symptoms.

  33. I have the book and stage light with filters. I have used it off and on for years and on my parents with positive effect for pneumonia and drug reaction. I am wondering if there is any advice on what colors to use for the Corona virus, of COVID19? I was thinking of green systemically, and blue for fever, or perhaps turquoise systemically? If it would help people with this virus, it would cause more people to be interested in the healing light of color therapy and give it more validation.

    • I’m sorry, I cannot prescribe. Many sites that have are now shut down.
      You seem to be on the right track about the color schedule. As it is a flu-type virus, the schedule for the flu can be followed.

  34. My daughter has Lyme disease. We have used light therapy in the past when she lost peripheral vision after head injury. She used a blue/green light and it healed her eyes after 2 months.
    She has been experiencing jaundice around the mouth off and on for 2 years. She just recently started using blue light on her liver. The liver has become very tender and she gets very tired for about an hour just with 10 minutes of the light. Any suggestions?

    • The blue light may be stimulating her liver to cleanse. Its good to ease the load on the liver by eating foods that are easy to digest and staying away from too many fats, sugar, eggs, dairy.

      Try red for a while. Start with 10 min and see how well she tolerates it. Red strengthens the liver and can bring about strong detox. If that happens, just tonate 2-3 times a week until things are normal.

      Then you can alternate between blue and red, or turquoise and red and see how that goes.

  35. My son has been diagnosed with Brachial Amyotrophic Diplegia which is a cousin to ALS. We started with lemon for two weeks then yellow for a week then going to orange for a week. We’ve been directing the light to his shoulder arm area, would that be correct? I do have a machine that was my grandmothers from the late 1920’s which is in excellent condition.

    • No, not if you have a light specifically made for the filters. If its black inside, you might want to increase the amount the light reflects by foil lining it, but its fine without it.

  36. Have BENIGN ESSENTIAL TREMORS been successfully treated with light therapy?
    If so, what color and what details should I look for?

    • For nerve problems, see schedule #276. Results depend on several factors: Age, genetics, diet, stress and exercise levels, etc.

  37. Did Mr. Darius Dinshah approve of using a full spectrum LED lamp as a light source? In his book, “Let There be Light, he stated not to use fluorescent lighting.
    full spectrum fluorescent lamps. do not use Neodymium, chromalux, bulbrite. Would he approve of using a “full spectrum LED lamp,” as a light source? I am confused by whether this is the same as what Mr. Dinshah said not to use? Thank you very much.

    • LEDs do not have a full spectrum of frequencies. Their flicker is also harmful and diminishes their ability to radiate the needed healing frequencies from the Roscolene filters. Although it is hard to find incandescent bulbs, they are still available as appliance bulbs for refrigerators and chandeliers, although chandelier lights are now going to LED. Try different stores, and when you find some, stock up. Its best if the glass is clear, rather than white coated.

    I have been using chromotherapy for 5 days with my 3-year-old son who has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and has hands with swollen fingers and some inflammation in his feet. Being so small, the only way is at night when he sleeps. I am toning 2 hours with green and 2 hours with magenta. In total 4 hours while sleeping. its alot? At the moment I don’t notice that I have any complaints or crises, but I would like some kind of guidance on whether it is correct or what other colors to use at night. Thank you so much.

  40. It sounds like you are saying you are tonating 4 hours per night – 2 hours with green and 2 hours with magenta. If so, this is too much, especially if you are doing the tonations back-to-back. It is recommended to only tonate with one color per night, especially if the tonations are extended.

    If you use two different colors, they are best done at a separate Forecast time. Its even better if some time goes by between them (a few hours) to give the body time to equilibrate itself between the tonantions. Tonating with green one night and magenta the next night would be a better practice.

    Chapter five goes over best practices for tonations. Its helpful to re-read that chapter every so often, especially the section on Technique.

    Color schedule #212 has suggestions for rheumatoid arthritis. There are nine colors mentioned. Generally, these can be rotated, a different color every night. Or, if you feel there is more need for one color over another, that color can be used for several nights or weeks, then the next color can be used.

    • For the sake of understanding and learning: would it be alright to tone this kid with those two colors at the same time? Double tonation as the book describes? Or is that unsuitable when the kid sleeps?

      • Please see my response to David on July 25, 2022. In addition:

        Tonating with two colors at the same time is only advisable only if its a recent, acute-type of condition, such as a high fever or itching from poison ivy or a bad burn. Its not advisable for chronic conditions.

        Colors from opposite sides of the spectrum should not be used in the same tonation.

        Any two of these colors may be tonated together:
        Red, Orange, Yellow, Lemon, Green.

        Or any two of these from the other spectrum:
        Green, Turquoise, Blue, Indigo, Violet

        Or: Magenta and Purple

        Or: Magenta and Scarlet

        – if the colors they are very close together on the

        Tonate for only one hour at the Forecast time (unless its one of the acute conditions mentioned above).
        However, tonating with the same color on both sides can sometimes be helpful.

  43. When using the recommended combinations of the Roscoline color gels, does it matter what order they are arranged?
    In the Roscolene Filter Combinations Supplemental Colors, I noticed there are two listed for ‘Orange Yellow’; one is 809, 826 and the other is 826,809. Should I assemble all of the filters in the order they are indicated?

    • You could could try Lemon and yellow for digestive problems.

      Wrinkles from aging may be difficult due to several factors such as age, genetics, stress levels and exercise. Turquoise can be tried. No promises.

  46. The book is currently on its 13th edition. The color attributes and index of color schedules and color tonations have not changed, so any edition is good. A few new conditions have been adde and some sections removed. You’re basically fine with the 3rd edition.
